Assembly instructions

ROOF COVERING VENTILATION

Ensuring proper ventilation of the space beneath the sheets is one of the main requirements of proper assembly. We must remember to ensure free air circulation from the eaves to the ridge. When circulation is low, the undercoating and insulation can become damaged due to steam buildups under the surface of the sheets.

ASSEMBLING VERTICAL BATTENS AND COUNTER-BATTENS

Vertical battens and counter battens are used for the assembly of roof coverings. They are made of lightweight wood (impregnation is recommended). Boards and battens should be fixed to the existing covering using galvanized nails. To facilitate further work, the position of vertical battens can be marked on the counter-battens. Spacing boards should be mounted approx. every 600 mm, and every other board should rest on a rafter. In case of a roof without insulation, the battens can be mounted directly on the rafters. Vertical batten span is 411 mm. Mount the vertical battens by the eaves and second vertical batten as illustrated on the image.

COVERING ASSEMBLY

Before assembling the sheets, check if the edges of the battens are cut at a right angle. Start sheet assembly from the lower left corner. When placing the first sheet, first attach it initially with a farmer’s screw. Place subsequent sheets next to the first properly mounted sheet; “press” them into the tile clasps.

Mount the sheets vertically from eaves to ridge. As they are pressed in a symmetric manner, cuts from corner slants can also be used in valley slants, due to which more of the product can be utilized.

Mount the sheets to the headwall using farmer’s screws in matching colors, or galvanized, except when assembling the first row of covering to the first vertical batten. In this case the screws have to mounted on the bottom of the “wave”, as shown on the illustration.

VALLEY GUTTERS

Before installing a valley gutter, check the surface of the roof and level it if necessary. Nail spanning boards approx. 16 cm from the middle of the gutter, along its edge. The bent portion under the sheet should not be shorter than 15 cm. Mount the gutters onto the battens together with adequately cut tiles using farmer screws on the bottom of each “wave”.

IT IS PROHIBITED TO:

Use tools that give off a thermal effect, such as angle grinders, etc.

STEPPING ON THE ROOF

Walk on the roof wearing soft shoes and step only on the bottom of the “wave”.

CAREFUL: screw down the sheets before you walk on them. Never leave the sheets on the roof unfastened.
